2. OTHER SPIRITS
3. NOTE THE CLEAR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOLY SPIRIT AND OTHER SPIRITS

ALCOHOLIC DRINKS AND WINES ARE NOT FOR KINGS AND PRIESTS

1. a. Who are the kings and priests?

b. Dangers of alcohol drinks and wines.
The Bible says the alcoholic beverage must be avoided like a plague – Proverbs 31 :4, because:
– It leads to wrong decisions -Esther 1:10. What the king would not normally do, he did under the Influence of wine. – It leads astray – Proverbs 20:1.
– It provides satanic leadership – Hosea 4:11, Isaiah 5:22-23.
– It leads to confusion – Proverbs 23:29-.30.
– Sexual immorality is associated with the spirit of alcohol – Proverbs 23:33 some of which have led to incest – Genesis 19:33-35.
– The spirit of alcohol makes the Holy Spirit to step aside in the lives of drunkards – 1Cor. 3:16-17. (It leads to defilement of the temple of God). It ultimately leads to hell- Galatians 5:21.

OTHER SPIRITS

Spirit of the world, spirit of demon, familiar spirit, spirit of divination, spirit of adoption, spirit of bondage, unclean spirit, evil spirit, spirit of beast, spirit of the antichrist, spirit of error, 1Samuel 16:14, Eccl. 3:21, 1John 4:6, James 4:4, IJohn 4:15-16, Lev.19:31, Deut. 26:6, Matthew 12:43, Rev. 11:7.

NOTE THE CLEAR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOLY SPIRIT AND OTHER SPIRITS

1. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth – John 14:17, while other spirits lead to deception. John 8:44.
2. The Holy Spirit is of God – John 15:26, John 14:16, while other spirits are of the devil.
3. The Holy Spirit gives liberty ·2Cor. 3:17, while other spirits lead to bondage.
4. The Holy Spirit helps in the work of redemption – John 4:14, while the spirit of alcohol leads to eternal damnation- Gal. 5:21, Proverbs 31:33.
5. The spirit of alcohol is associated with the spirit of lust and immorality while the Holy Spirit is associated with the Holy God and helps in the sanctification of believers -1 Thess. 2:13,1 Peter 1:5, Romans 15:16.
6. The Holy Spirit empowers believers for exploits and good works -Acts 1:8, 10:38, while the spirit of alcohol empowers for the works of the flesh – Prov.
23:33·35, Galatians 5:19·21.
7. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of holiness- Romans 1:4.
8. The Holy Spirit dwells only in believers- Rom.8:9.

The difference is endless.

FELLOWSHIPPING WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

MEMORY VERSE: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen” 2Connthlans 13: 14 .

BIBLE PASSAGE: Acts 2:42-47

INTRODUCTION: Last week we learnt about who the Holy Spirit is and His relevance in these last days. Today, we will be sharing together the heed for fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit and its indispensability. May the Lord bless us as we study on in Jesus’ name.

OUTLINES:

1. A COMPULSORY MANDATE
2. AN INDISPENSABLE SPIRIT

A COMPULSORY MANDATE

Fellowship is described here as a bond of common purpose and devotion that binds Christians together to the Trinity in Council.

Mandate is a command to do something by a person or group of people to achieve a common purpose.

Fellowship is about building a relationship that will blossom to a mutual benefit to the people or persons involved. Fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit is about seeking to know, developing intimacy with and seeking thefavour of this higher Authority.

For a believer, this fellowship with the Holy Spirit is not optional but mandatory, especially if such a believer will want to be relevant in the kingdom. In the place of fellowship, issues are tabled before God – the believer will be comforted, challenges will become stepping stones and ways will be made where there is no way. Fellowship can be sustained or lost with grave consequences. Beware. 2Corinthians 13:14; 1John 1:3; Isaiah 43:26; 1:18; Philippians 3:9·11,18-19.

AN INDISPENSABLE SPIRIT

A person is said to be indispensable when you cannot do anything without him. Without the Holy Spirit, you cannot go far in this Christian Journey. He was given to teach and to remind us of Christ’s teachings, to empower for various assignments and to guide us into all truth. John 14:26;16:13; Acts 1:8. So, without Him we can do nothing. Zech. 4:6. This Indispensability was further established as He was the power behind our Lord Jesus Christ’s exploits all through His ministry on earth. Matthew 3:16; Acts 10:38. With Him, we can access the following – truth, knowledge, wisdom and understanding, victory without a fight, secrets of God’s plans and the plans of the enemies, power to live a sanctified and consecrated life, grace to pray through. John 16:13-14; James 1:5; 2Kings 6:8-10; Acts 27:10, 18-25; 10:9-16; Zech. 4:6; Acts 16:25-39.

CONCLUSION

Through fellowship, relationship is built. Sustained fellowship brings sustained relationship between the Indispensable Spirit and the believer which then advances the cause of the kingdom. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit for mutual benefits.

QUESTIONS

1. Why is fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit compulsory?
2. Mention three assignments of the indispensable Spirit?
3. List four benefits of tellowshipping with the Holy Spirit?

INTRODUCING THE HOLY SPIRIT

MEMORY VERSE: “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:4

BIBLE PASSAGE: Acts 2:1-4

INTRODUCTION:

The day of Pentecost marked the beginning of the dispensation of the Holy Ghost, until now and will continue until Jesus comes to carry His own people away. The coming of the Holy Ghost has been foretold by Jesus as the one coming to take charge of the activities of the church at this end time. The Third Person in Trinity is still relevant now as ever. As He is being introduced to us with a look at His relevance in these last days, may we be blessed in Jesus’ name.

OUTLINES

1. WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?
2. HIS RELEVANCE IN THESE LAST DAYS

WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?

He is the Third Person in Trinity, called the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, the Testifier, and the Teacher. He is the Power behind every activity of the church. He is the Revealer of the mind of God and the plan of the kingdom of darkness. He is the Intercessor. 1John 5: 7; John 14:26; 15:26; Romans 8:16; Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8; 1Cor. 2:9 -11; Romans 8:26-27.

HIS RELEVANCE IN THESE LAST DAYS

As the Person in charge of this dispensation, He is in total control of all situations. As the Third Person in Trinity, He possesses all secrets. Being a Teacher, knowledge, wisdom and understanding are available with Him. Being a Comforter, He is an expert in comforting those that mourn and are sorrowful. Power for holy living and to do exploit is with Him. Power to change and transform a person is with Him. He convicts for genuine repentance. Peace is available with Him. John 16:13-14; 2Kings 6:8-10; Acts 1:8; Luke 10:19; Mark 11:23; Ephesians 1:13-14.
